CMI is located just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, in the US northeast corridor... an international center of ocean research activities.  The company consists of its president, Gerard Chaplin, and a team of on-call specialists in oceanographic instrument design, embedded systems programming, signal processing algorithm development and circuit board layout.
Gerry Chaplin has been involved with the ocean research community for over 35 years as a field engineer and instrument designer.  He has provided services to the following organizations:

     Arthur D. Little Co.
     Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
Columbia University - Lamont-Dougherty Earth Observatory
     Science Applications International Corporation
     Sea Data Corporation
     Pacer Systems Inc.
     Woods Hole Group
University of Rhode Island - Graduate School of Oceanography

In March of 2010 CMARI opened a new development studio in Holliston, MA.  The group has discontinued it's TRAX4 software & accessories  product line.  The CMARI group is currently developing an innovative passive sonar system.  This "underwater GPS" acoustic tracking system is based on a light-weight array of spar buoys whose clocks are GPS-disciplined.  Applications include shipboard tracking of diver and remote vehicle activities.  Click on subTRAX above to learn more.
