About Us
CMI is located just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, near Cape Cod... an international center of ocean research activities.  The company consists of its president, Gerard Chaplin, and a team of on-call specialists in oceanographic instrument design, embedded systems programming and circuit board layout.
Gerry Chaplin has been involved with the ocean research community for over 25 years as a field engineer and instrument designer.  He has provided services to the following organizations:

     Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
     Columbia University - Lamont-Dougherty Earth Observatory
     Science Applications International Corporation
     Sea Data Corporation
     Pacer Systems Inc.
     Woods Hole Group

Gerry is currently designing instruments for the University of Rhode Island, Graduate School of Oceanography (URI-GSO).  The TRAX-4 Software was initially developed (1994) and tested at URI-GSO and has been upgraded for retail sale by CMI.  Other software utilities and hardware devices, including a low -power acoustic modem and a tsunami detection & early-warning system are STILL in various stages of development and testing...  watch this site for new products!
